Nagare

流れ means flow. You choose how long to stay, five minutes or fifteen or open ended, then push off, row a lake, cast, and wait. Five fish live in it. You may catch one. You may catch nothing and just drift, which is a whole session too.

The clock is invisible on purpose. A timer counting down puts back exactly the urgency the design removes, so the light is the clock instead: you push off at first light and the sun goes down as your time runs out. You read how long is left by looking at the water.

At the end a bell rings, the lanterns come up, and the day closes with three lines in English and Japanese, composed from what actually happened. A day when nothing bit gets a poem about a day when nothing bit. The journal works the same way. It is written from the events, never authored, so it is a record of your afternoons rather than a record of your patience.

Native, and native all the way down. Swift, SpriteKit, GameplayKit, SwiftUI, SwiftData, AVFoundation. Apple frameworks only, no third party SDKs and no package dependencies, shipping as a single universal binary. There is no network entitlement at all, so the app cannot connect out even if it wanted to. No login, no analytics, no crash reporting, no in-app purchase.

Built alone. iOS and iPadOS are in progress.

Screens

  1. The boat out on open water, a cast line running back toward the shore at the lower left, dark shapes of fish under the surface.
  2. A catch card over the lake. A scarred red koi drawn in pixel art, its name in Japanese and English, and a line saying it has been hooked before.
  3. Later in the day. The water has gone dark and the line is cast toward a jetty at the top right.
  4. The journal open over the lake, titled a record of days, with two dated entries written from what happened.
  5. The day closing. Three lines in English with their Japanese under each, set over the water.
  6. The boat moored against the island at the end of a session, the water dark around it.
